About Us
We didn't find the outback. We're from it.
Most candle brands tell you they're inspired by nature. They use words like wilderness, earthy, and raw. They borrow the aesthetic of a place they've visited or seen in a photograph.
We don't have to borrow anything.
Outback Candle Co was born in Alice Springs, Northern Territory — in the red heart of Australia, where the land is ancient, the sky goes on forever, and the air after desert rain is unlike anything else on earth.
This is where we live. This is where we pour. And this is where every scent begins.
It started with a dad and his daughter.
On an evening walk through the Alice Springs scrub, eight-year-old eyes looked up and asked: "Dad, why doesn't our house smell like this?"
It was the kind of question only a kid can ask — simple, honest, and completely unanswerable. Because she was right. The warm dust, the dry sweetness of native blooms, the cool shift in the air as the desert settled into dusk — there was nothing at home that came close.
So we started trying to change that.
Small batches, by hand, in Alice Springs. We found a Beesoy wax blend — a combination of soy and beeswax that burns cleaner, longer, and richer than standard candles. We sourced fragrance oils inspired by the native landscapes of the Northern Territory: the sharp sweetness of Kakadu Plum, the warm dust of the desert floor, the cool stillness of a desert night.
Every scent is a place. Every candle is a story.
